Black Canyon Raceway Cancels April 17th Event Due to Excessive Rainfall

Emmett, Idaho — Black Canyon Raceway officials have announced the cancellation of the scheduled April 17th race event due to severe weather and unsafe track conditions.

Following three consecutive days of heavy rainfall, the facility has experienced significant flooding, with large portions of both the track surface and pit area underwater. With an additional half inch of rain forecasted and continued low temperatures expected, conditions are not favorable for draining or properly reworking the racing surface in time for racing this week.

Despite ongoing efforts to assess and prepare the track, officials have determined that the facility is not in a condition that can be safely reworked in time. Additionally, a majority of the pit area remains flooded, further impacting the ability to host teams and competitors.

“As much as we were looking forward to getting back on track, the current conditions just won’t allow us to put on a safe and competitive event,” said Andrew Richardson - Track Promoter. “Making the call early allows everyone time to adjust and plan ahead.”

Black Canyon Raceway will now shift its focus to the upcoming 2nd Annual Gem Cup, scheduled for May 1–2.

Track officials appreciate the patience and understanding of racers, teams, and fans, and look forward to welcoming everyone back under improved conditions.
